Hopefully the aerial view shown below will clear up a few details. It seems to have been taken in late summer. Unfortunately I was not able to find one taken in Spring.
There seems to be some confusion as to where our dog, Harvey was at the time he was shot. And of course the most likely place the person who shot him could have been standing. You will see a small red x – placed at the South East Corner of our property. It was not filled with anything at the time except the wreck of my first motorcycle (the 2nd one was in the Garage)
As most serious researchers know, we heard 2 possible 3 shots. One passed thru Harvey’s leg and into his chest and eventually logged close to his spine. If you are curious about the likely bullets used, there is a some info at: https://wheatcarr.com/2022/08/05/bullet-diameter-and-weight/
Approximate distance from Harvey to 7th floor Apt at 35 Pine St is 300 feet. edited to add on 2023-Dec-12 Approximate distance from Harvey at the time he was shot from SE corner of our property was about 25-30 feet.
Again different today, for those who would like a bit more detail, almost every one of the homes On on Grove Street had access to the Croton Aqueduct. Notably It was either between the 2nd and 3rd or 3rd and 4th that those of us who had to trudge up that hill to get to Gorton Jr or Sr High School would cut thru to Glenwood – taking a few blocks off the hike.
The driveway for 322 Warburton (our neighbor on the north side) was also used by many and then thru up the driveway to the backyard and then onto the Aqueduct. Cut across to where there was access to Wicker & Glenwood. Later, in the mid to late 80’s many of the homeowners started blocking their stairs because of vandalism.
No, I cannot answer and choose not to speculate why some of these details may have been left out of the various police reports or “theorist” who had access to the information.
Hopefully this will clear up some of the misleading statements of others who were not there, have made it clear they do not think accuracy is important if it requires them to admit an error of fact and so lacked complete details to make proper assumptions.
My older brother like to give advice. He was often right.
When I was about 13 He told me that I should say NO if I wished, but had to be strong enough to know those would be the guys who were most likely to trash your reputation.
so (at the time) saying no on a first date was “normal” – his advice was never go on a second date unless you thought the guy was really worth my time and future effort.
What is your favorite – “why didn’t I think of this sooner” for food preservation: Mine is something I started as an experiment in my 20’s for “lunch box food”
Everyone knows about freezing everything from herbs to eggs to bits of left over meats in an ice cube tray for later use. And most have likely heard about using muffin trays then transferring to a zipper bag or air tight container.
And that does work EXCEPT sometimes the cubes still stick together.
I find the inexpensive cupcake/muffin papers in both sizes – filled no more than 3/4 but mostly 2/3 – when the food is frozen, just fold over the edges before placing in the bag – no more chunks/cubes stuck together
The primary difference between this switchboard and the one in use in YPD in the mid-70’s is the absecnce of Rotary Dial on the operator’s right. The headsets were also different. Western Electric kept those 500 series switchboards working until well into the 1980’s. The only upgrade was usually the addition of a rotary dial and some time in the late 70’s the addition of tone-tone 12 digit “dials” It was an adventure and a learning experience for all including the gentlemen from Bell Labs in Moorestown NJ – as a test site for the 557B that was in service for the Telephone Industry (slightly different model than that use in non=TAS offices)
This is a picture of the type of headsets used by both TAS & YPD at that time. Trust me when I say they were damned heavy
