Comments (0)No I am not a Ham, but TH, has been a Ham for many many years (including before he got is letters).
Last Night he mentioned getting this in the news from CARA one of our local clubs, I knew I had to share it and find a good musical comment – The choice was easy.
So, with all due respect to Samuel B….
This just might be the end of the world as we know it

SB QST ARL ARLB030
ARLB030 FCC to Drop Morse Testing for All Amateur License Classes
In an historic move, the FCC has acted to drop the Morse code
requirement for all Amateur Radio license classes. The Commission
today adopted a Report and Order (R&O) in WT Docket 05-235. In a
break from typical practice, the FCC only issued a public notice at
or about the close of business and not the actual Report and Order,
so some details — including the effective date of the R&O — remain
uncertain.
Also today, the FCC also adopted an Order on Reconsideration, in WT…

Comments (0)If you frequent group and forums dedicated to Designers, Teachers & Retailrs, hardly a month goes by that someone does not “come on”, post a message about how they are in some way new (New to Designing, Teaching, Show Owning or just new to the list)
Usually these message go on to ask for advice on some subject and FWIW, this is why I read those groups more than anything else the answers and ideas often inspire other ideas, or add to existing plans or otherwise modify my “business plans”.
SO for those just starting out, IF I had it over to do again I wish I had listened YEARS earlier when TH and Dave McCormick and all the great programmers who tried to get me to stop wasting valuable coding time and learn the basics of CSS.
And here is where I plug the book I call my Web BIble,
HTML for the World Wide Web with XHTML & CSS: 5th Ed.

Comments (0)WWW traditionally “stands for” World Wide Web, although if you are reading this, then you know it also means “What Wheat Wrote”.
Over these past 30+ years (Are you old enough to remember when there was no Web & we communicated by text only in “news groups” )
And, over those years, it amuzing to me how many of my rather strongly held opinions and ideas can be used with a bit of tweaking. With that in mind, I have begun the process of dusting off old posts, fixing my notorious typos, and in some cases, “bringing it up to date”
I hope you will find some of these useful. They have been to me and mine over the years.

Comments (0)Wouldn’t it be great if CALL Blocking could be used to keep you from doing something stupid.
Like calling someone on the West Coast – when you want a favor – at 6am because you get up at 5am EAST Coast time, so 8am feels like noon – so it must be okay to call =
I wish it was 30+ years ago, when we were all involved in developing custom calling services from Voice Mail to Call Blocking and had thought about a service where if you could program your phone to act like your computer before your delete something
So any time you dial outside your time zone you get a message like;
“The party you are calling is located in a different time zone, the local time is:
day, date, time – Press 1 to continue

Comments (0)It looked so simple, just follow the instructions (well I thought I did) and whatever new bell or whistle included would appear.
INCLUDE being the operative word here. There I was, all happily upgraded (ignorance can be bliss) being inordinately proud of myself for having done this without assistance.
Everything is great until I hit SAVE – poof, up comes
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: maybe_serialize() in /home/evilscie/public_html/wp-admin/admin-functions.php on line 937
No maybe about it, serializing not happening.
Normally this would have been a tiny problem, TH is out of town and up to his ears in meetings. Don’t want to bother him but, after several days of not quite finding the info I need – I confessed, gave my usual, I am sorry, I really should have told you further.
And of course, since I had posted a message AFTER the upgrade, managed to completely forget it was part of the scenario.
Well, at least THIS TIME, I did back up everything, so while I couldn’t get a post to publish, at least I did not lose everything … like the last time.
Fortunately TH is quite good at seeing through the magic smoke of software, and found the following link.

Here’s hoping this “posts” without incident
