Good morning, Wheat. I have seen your posts on various Yahoo Groups and you always have interesting and thoughtful insights to offer. I found this topic via My Yahoo RSS feed and love broomstick lace, so registered here so I could comment on it.

Because broomstick lace uses single crochet around drawn up loops, I would say it is a technique rather than a stitch. I was always taught, however many loops you choose to draw off, make sure you always use the same number of single crochet around the loops as the number of loops you choose. I would love to find good patterns for this technique as I love the look of it.
